New York state is paying 15 times the normal rate for medical equipment.


States are competing with one another for medical equipment and supplies (see link below).

Can you imagine how WW2 would have turned out if individual Army and Marine Corps units had to outbid each other for ammunition, equipment, and supplies? Let the invisible hand of the market guide us, though.
